Day 7 ~ Something New

My something new is going to Estes Park up in the mountains with me today. It the weekend of the Long's Peak Scottish ~ Irish Festival and I am going to be hanging with my family and friends for the long weekend. I got a camp cot as these old bones are tired of getting off the floor of the tent after a night. With an egg crate mattress and real sheets and a quilt, I will be most comfy. Easier to get my shoes on for the trip to the loo in the wee hours of the morning as well.

#46 of 365 - Old Friends and New

The joys of the internet is reconnecting with friends from the past. Lysa and I went to the same tiny high school in New Jersey and somehow we both ended up in Colorado. This photo was taken at the Long Peak Scottish-Irish Festival in lovely Estes Park, CO this past September. Lysa is a Stewart and I, of course am a Blair.

Then there are newly met friends. That would be Shaun from Clan Rose. She was there with her workmates as the boss was a festival sponsor and took his whole team to the festival for a day. How cool is that?

Tag You Are IT!

My friend Anne, the bodacious owner of the Fabulous El Milagro Studio has tagged me, now I tag you.

This is how the Tag works:

A. Name & link back to the person who tagged you. (I managed that part....)
B. List six (un)important things that make you happy.
C. Tag six bloggers & let them know they're *it* by leaving them a comment.

Six things........

1. Time with my DD, chilling with a vintage TV show!
2. The Cat that owns us both, Pan aka Pandemonium!
3. Sharing art, literature and life's stuff with my family and friends.
4. I really do like wearing a corset!
5. Good friends who put up with and celebrate my eccentricities. I took this one directly from Anne and Amen to that, Sistah Grrl!
6. A Great Cup of Joe!

Now, to my victims, er, I mean, my FRIENDS! ;-)

1. Nic at http://nicknits.blogspot.com for persevering on the Jolly Green Giant and her willingness to share it with us, pretty amazing!
2. Rebecca at http://danceswithpitbulls.blogspot.com/ for always amusing me and giving me a window into her world at the other end of Union Blvd!
3. Father Michael at http://parchedground.wordpress.com for his considered and thought provoking writing on any number of subjects...
4. Kay at http://quiltspluscolor.blogspot.com for her colourful addition to my life and her puzzles of interesting things and whose work inspires me.
5. Brittany at http://papermoonies.blogspot.com for her wonderful spirit and kewl art and for being my new found friend.
6. Ces at http://cesandherdishes.blogspot.com for amazing art, thoughtful commentary and the kewlest Moleskines, on this earth or any other.

Again, I cannot say it better then Anne, so I am not changing a word. Go pass this on; see what is truly important, or unimportant but makes you happy!
All my readers, without question, make me happy!

Happy Birthday to Me - Today is My Birthday

Today is my ???? birthday. I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of well wishes for this day.

Thank you to all that have sent them and please know that I appreciate each and everyone of you. I am incredibly grateful and blessed that you all are a part of my life.

Again, I as I said in an earlier post, I often feel I don't express my appreciation for the value, art, laughter and thoughtful prods, new authors and other too numerous to list goodies that you bring to my life.

Thanks again, now off to Sushi for the Birthday Supper with the Dear Daughter, Erin.

Edited: 8:17 pm. Well, the best laid plans and all like that there. We went to three, count them, THREE Sushi Bars and none of them were open when we were ready to eat or even when they were suppose to be. We then decided to go to Whole Foods instead and cruise the hot foods and the rest of the departments in search of something that struck mine/our fancy. We settled on Steamed Clams with Steamed Asparagus and a Sourdough Boule (Crusty Rustic Bread) and we then shared a Whipped Cream Filled Eclair for dessert. Yum, not sushi, mind you, but a great meal none-the-less and I DID NOT HAVE TO COOK or clean up. Whoo-hoo! We are still going to go out for Sushi before the end of the month, tho.

I GOT KNIT PICKS Interchangeables, Size 4 for a start, YEAH!!! and Season 2 of the Tudors and still more on the way apparently...

Support

Who Supports You?

My friend, Marion, over the pond in the UK asked that question on her blog today and it got me to thinking about who supports me.

My daughter, Erin is my biggest piece of scaffolding. She lets me clutter the house with all the bits and pieces of stuff that help me to make my art. Be it yarn, fabric, beads, threads, papers, even bits and bobs of junk I find out and about.

My friends from all the different aspects of my life who support me in my artistic ventures by saying all the right things, even if I don't want to hear it. They are the knitters, The Ravelers, the quilters, The Quilt Mavericks, the fiber artistes of all sorts, the historical re-enactors, The Renaissance Scots, the paper artistes, the Scottish community, the Colorado Medieval Festival folks, the Rennies, the greyhound rescue folks, swordsmen, spinners, weavers and costume makers.

I also can never say thank you enough for all the friends that saw me through treatment for breast cancer 8 years ago and held my hand and kicked my ass when it was necessary. I have very little biological family left and my friends are the family I have made. Thanks to all for being the supports of my life. Huzzah, Huzzah, Huzzah (that's 3 cheers) to you for being there through the thick and thin.

On another note, I am way stoked about Coraline the Movie, opening this weekend. Neil Gaiman and knitting what could be better than that, I ask you?
