Day 20 ~ What I Read

I always have two or six books going at the same time. Currently, these are the books I reading. They are, in no particular order, Shine, Shine, Shine by Lydia Netzer, Cross Stitch by Diana Gabaldon (Outlander's British title), The Shetland Bus by David Howarth and The Gourmet Detective by Peter King. I generally catch up on magazines and newspapers at the library. However, The National Geographic and the Smithsonian come to the house, so I am perusing them as well.
I troll Facebook on and off all day if I am to home, so I read numerous updates and articles linked by my friends. I also read, on the average, six to ten blogs a week. Again in no particular order. I regularly read Rebecca's, Erin's, Nic's, Celia's, Dave Lowe's, and Alan Doyle's.

27 May - Maybe

Maybe:

I'll never get off Facebook now that the Quilt Mavericks have a group there.

It'll warm up some. Hoodie and wool socks on for the morning.

I will sleep in my own bed tonight.

I will miss Cosi and Dexter, but I will have the Saki-Bomb under my feet again.

#19 of 365 - Retro on My Mind

I am the Block of the Month (BOM) coordinator for my quilt guild her in the Springs. To that end I choose a block design every month and choose colours and pattern and fabric types for the design I pick. This month I picked a retro block of cherries which is probably based on one from the 30s. I am not terribly into retro per se, but I have to appeal to a VERY diverse audience. So, I used batiks and tonals instead of 30s reproduction fabrics. Here's one of the sample blocks for your edification.

What got me to thinking about retro at all is that on Facebook it's been Retro Picture time. I therefore dug through the archives and found one of me from high school, way back when. Here I am back when I had crooked teeth and far less wrinkles on a hillside in Morris County, NJ.
