Day 11 ~ Something Fun

This is Montone. Montone is a glow in the dark alien Christmas tree ornament I was given by Mark about 10 years ago. He's named for a character in Outland, a movie from the 1980s. For fun I take him places and photograph him. He's been to the London Eye, Stonehenge and the top of Pike's Peak. Here he is in Grace's living room in California. He lives in one of my Altoid tins devoted to knitting accouterments, so he travels with me all the time.

Been Remiss

I have been traveling and knitting and working on my year long altered art project. I apologize to my readers for the brevity of words of late.

Saved - My Blogging Reputation, Maybe?

Saved As Well - The skills from the Past.

This is a wagon train spotted on I -25 heading north in Wyoming near the Oregon Trail tracks as we were heading to Billings, Montana for the Yellowstone Highland Games. Where I was going to demo spinning which is also a skill we are trying to save from the past. On the bobbin, a lovely glitzy fibre that my dear friend, Gina sent me from the New Hampshire Fiber Festival. Thanks again!

Cotton Fern Clog Socks

I am nearly finished with my cotton Fern Clog Socks. Here's a preview. They are knit from Sockina, a self-patterning cotton and nylon blend yarn. These were also the second effort at knitting with two circular needles. I must say, I love my DPNs, but I can't lose nor break 2 circs as easily whilst traveling and knitting.

I wear a lot of clogs and slides, so these socks are a perfect fit in more ways than one.

The lace pattern only goes up the heel and calf, for show and the rest of the sock is in stocking stitch.

Of course, the pattern is available from Ravelry.
