#98 of 365 - Big Pizza

Tonight was Pizza Night.

I made a fresh tomato and Brussels sprout pie for me. I used fresh herbs from my "garden" which lives in pots in the bathroom as it gets the most sun. It's still too cold for them to go out. Nevermind the fact, that there was 5 inches of snow on the ground when I woke up this morning. It was yummy tho, nom!

#82 of 365 - Obligatory Spring Snow Storm Pictures

We had our first Spring snow storm last night. Woke up to the drifts blocking the doors and grey skies. Wild weather which prevented Apryll from coming to visit last night and Erin from going to the gym this morning.

#77 of 365 - Obligatory Last Snow of Winter Picture

Of course, the snow is done coming down, is now trying to melt and the sun is also trying to break through as I type this.

It dropped over 40 degrees in temperature since yesterday. So, here's Erin and Pan getting warm together...

I say this is the last picture of snow in Winter, as believe it or not, Spring starts on Sunday and we are done with snow for the moment...

#52 of 365 - Today has Been a Good Day, So Far

Got up this morning to head out to church, it was slip sliding away getting out of my neighborhood. We had an inch more of snow during the night... Got to church safely enough, thank you, God. Went to Adult Education where we learned about the origins of the church in Britain along with other historical information. More reading for me, which is not a bad thing.

After church, I went to the library to print something out and pick up a couple of movies that had come in. There I was treated to the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony's Apollo Quartet playing some selections in the atrium of the library. What a lovely treat for the ears!

Now I am waiting for the onion soup to finish... Nom!

#28 of 365 - Another Hat that I Wear or FB is Kewl for Free Stuff

If you are a fan of Facebook and Einstein Bros. Bagel, then you know that you can get a coupon for a free bagel and a schmear... Erin and I took advantage of it this morning. Of course, the child would take the picture whilst I was stuffing my face, sigh.

This is what the trees looked like as we drove about. Lovely they are, all dusted with rime.

Garden of the Gods - Colorado Springs

Yesterday, we took my niece/daughter, Leilani aka Mimi to the Garden of the Gods for a walk about in the glowy sun. She hadn't been there before and it was also Erin's first visit to the Garden that it wasn't actively snowing or a drive through in the dark.

Another giveaway, go check her blog out!

Last Day of Summer, First Day of Autumn, Acting Like Winter

Merry Mabon! May your harvest be all that you need.

Yesterday was the last day of Summer. It snowed on and off all day. We even shut all the windows, finally. Today is the first day of Fall. Here's what our mountain looked like this morning, snow even down below the tree line. I pulled out the woolies, a pair of hand knit socks and an Aran sweater to go out of the house this morning.

Due to this extreme change in the weather (I mean to tell ya, we were in shorts and tank tops last week) I was in the mood for a soup and bread combination for the supper last night. To that end, I made New England Style Clam Chowder from scratch with Baking Powder Biscuits, also from scratch. YUM!

It's April 17th & the 1st Annual Blogger's Quilt Festival

This is so kewl. Check out the link here: http://parkcitygirl.blogspot.com and view some wonderful work included in the 1st ever Online Blogger Quilt Festival. The raven postcard pictured here is one of my favorites. It was made for the 200th Anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's birthday, which is being celebrated this year. I will post a different quilt later on when it's completed. Take a look, as well at "While the Octopus is Away" in an earlier post. It was done from a Bag o sCrap. The theme for that one came about after my daughter got back from seeing the Cirque de Soliel LOVE show in Las Vegas and describing the Octopus' Garden segment.

Rebecca, if you are reading this one, go check out the ParkCityGirl blog and then you should post the Pirate Quilt or else the new neutral one with the brown borders.

In reference to the date in the title of this post, it SNOWED AGAIN today. April is half way over, what's up with that?

New Wellies - It's a Funny Old World

On Sunday, you might not be aware, it snowed here in Colorado. It was that wet sloppy snow, which of course is all gone now, as it was nearly 60 degrees yesterday. This leads me to the topic of this post. I wore my new wellies to church on Sunday. No cute shoes for me, as it was a wet, sloppy and six inches.

I had bought a pair of Debbie Mumm garden wellies on sale last weekend. My daughter of course thought I was a loon for getting them as they are a kinda ugly green with flowers and the soles and trim are orange. I wanted the yellow and blue ones but they didn't have my size. However, as Erin reminded me, I have a lot of clothes that have these colours so they were actually the better choice.

I was dressing for church and looking out the door at the snow trying to decide on whether to wear my purple suede heels or what? Looking at the sloppy snow, I decided to wear my wellies to church. My daughter asked me "If I was really going to wear them?" My answer was an unqualified "Yes!" I pulled on a pair of wool stockings and rolled the cuffs over the top and away I went.

The funniest part of the whole thing was the compliments I got on them, from the men, no less. I guess they were glad to see a woman in sensible but FUN footwear that was appropriate for the weather. I was able to offer my services to other people to escort them to and from their cars and therefore be of service and not worry about slip, sliding away on the sidewalks myself.

Anyway, I think the money was well spent and they ARE fun. I hadn't expected to wear them before next winter, but I had forgotten that it usually snows on Easter here and therefore a perfect opportunity was presented.
