Damn the Gods

One of my dearest etherwebs people has been diagnosed with cancer. She's an artist, a style maker and makes me laugh all the time.

I have literally been there and done that. It's no fun and makes me so damn mad when I hear of another diagnosis.

I am going to light a candle and pray. I would jump on a plane tomorrow to go help if she needed me to. I really know what that means.

I love you Anne, prayers for you and yours. Thank the Good Lord we have our faith to sustain us. Now, commence kicking cancer's ass.

Our Friend Anne

...I see that the word is out that it is our dear Anne that is in need of our love and prayers. We all know what a trouper she is ~ a fighter ~ a survivor!! She will fight hard and we will fight with her. We, as a community of bloggers and sisterfriends, have united as one to pray for Anne. She has been there for all of us, it seems. I've read comments this evening that I could have written myself about how she reaches out, listens, understands, and makes us laugh. She is talented in many ways beyond her artistic abilities and God has to be pleased with all the majestic stoles and banners she has made over the years. There is no one else quite like her. She is truly our friend. We all want to see her well, happy, and creating in the studio she loves. God is good. He will listen to our unified prayers.
We love you, Anne. Be well.

My friend, Anne has an amazing ability to make me laugh, think, stretch, grow and now, cry. Received in humbleness, she has sent along this award to me, by way of our dear friend, Ces. Many thanks to you, dear friend Anne for this honour. You continue to awe and inspire me and I am grateful to have you in my life.

Thanks for the laughter, art, commiseration and most of all your spirit of "joie de vie" in all things that you face in your life.

In no particular order I send this along to you:

To borrow Anne's line; In spiritu humilitatis, Pax.

Touting Gypsylulu's 100th Post

I was just visiting my dear friend, Anne's blog and saw this. Please do go check out my new cyber friend Gypsylulu's 100th post and give away at Gypsylulu's blog here.

She has pretties to giveaway... As most of my friends know, I am mad for amber beads and red anything. I can always use more of both.

The Bella Sinclair Award

My friend, Anne over at El Milagro Studio is way too generous with her praise and has kindly gifted me with another award for this blog.

Here is the link to Bella Sinclair who's award this is. Through the Renee Award previously given to me and created by Bella and Ces in honour of their friend, Renee, I have come to know some of these wonderful artistes in Blog World through blogging myself. There is Anne, Tristan, Gypsy, Diana, Kay, Bella, and Ces of course. Not the least is my daughter, Erin and then there is Leah, Frewen and Rebecca.

So, in the spirit, I pass along this award to Erin, Leah, Frewen, Rebecca and Diana. Thanks so much for the inspiration in my life.

Coming Home Soon

This incredible piece of art is by my friend Anne. She has followed the saga of Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church here on my blog. A while back, she had a contest on her blog here, Anne's Blog and I won a piece of her art. Instead of sending one she had already done, she created a brand new piece for me. I was incredibly touch and overwhelmed by her thoughtful comments along the way and and the care which she used to make this piece for me. Here's the funny part and it also goes to show how clueless I am at times. I sent her or gave her access to some of the images she used for this piece and I had absolutely NO clue... Many grateful thanks, Anne. I am so glad we found each other.

In Honour of Our Fallen Heros

Today is Memorial Day in the US of A. It is a day to remember our service members. They died in the service of their country helping to protect my right to live free.

My GrandDa was a career Army man, as well as a member of the National Guard. It was not an easy life for his family, but he believe in what he was doing. I have infinite respect and admiration for those that make military life a career as they know the risk of dying in service. I appreciate their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their family.

If you care to read two other lovely tributes to this day and the men and women it honours, please do check out Tristan's blog at Enchanted Revelry and Anne's Blog at El Milagro Studio

Again, thank you for your service, Bless you All.

Renee Award - My Second Award and I am Humbled

All awards are special and some are greatly humbling to receive. I was honoured with another one this morning. My friend Anne has given me another award. Here is the link to Anne's blog, http://elmilagrostudio.blogspot.com. As you can see, I took what she wrote and added my own bits as I couldn't say it much better than she did even if I tried.

The Renee Award is relatively new and was created by Bella and Ces in honour of their friend Renee. Here's the link to Bella's Blog http://bellasinclair.blogspot.com and also to Ces' http://cesandherdishes.blogspot.com. Renee is an incredible lady, who in the face of a frightening life battle is tackling each new day with great spirit and courage. Please check out the blogs of these three creative women. Since I faced the same life battle as Renee myself, eight years ago and have survived with my humour and creativity at least somewhat in tact, I appreciate the challenges and friends that are thrown in my path all the more.

Here is what Bella says of the award: "This is a brand new award and I have the pleasure and honor of spreading the seed, watching it grow. I hope it finds its way to those who are like Renee: the acorn, a small package becoming a tall and sturdy oak, giving more acorns, becoming tall and sturdy oaks, giving acorns..."

Wow. This is a tough act to follow and I encourage you to read Tristan's post. Here's the link to Tristan's blog at http://tristanrobin.blogspot.com. Now, my job is to pass this on to eight fellow bloggers that make a difference in my life daily. There is no particular order in how I post these----everyone is on the same level for me. Friends, people who inspire me, reading I enjoy, folks who are working hard to make creativity a living breathing thing, folks who just are working hard with life. As Anne says "I salute you ALL!!!

2009 Creative Every Day Challange and the El Paso County Crafters Get Together

My friend, Anne has induced me to be Creative Every Day. Click on the Creative Every Day 2009 icon and it will take you to the blog that started this venture. I will post pictures of what I have done creatively today after I find the cable to my camera.

As for the El Paso County Crafters; we had a lovely time together. It was wonderful to see all the things that the others were working on. What a great exhibit of creativity was on display. There were Rebecca's Crazy Quilts, Sheila and Sue's spinning, Wendie's baby items, (loved that pink flamingo bib) Jean's husband's vest. Of course we all had to show off our socks as well. I really liked Sheila's pair of socks and her Montana Clog Company handpainted clogs (I want a pair, so very much, here's the link: http://www.mtclogs.com). I had on my Encore Scrappies which keep my tootsies toasty and I was glad of it as it was a frosty day yesterday.

I showed Rebecca, Anthea and Tara how to do needle felting and they each made a Valentine themed piece. Anthea also made a crown themed one as well.

I will also post photos of the Ravelry.com El Paso County Crafters group craft day, after I find the cable to my camera. As promised here are the photographs from the El Paso County Crafters get together on 14 February, 2009

BTW: I am a Winner! I follow a blog that had a contest to Pay it Forward and I left a message and I got this in return.
Congratulations! You're one of the winners from my recent...

Since I rarely if ever win anything it was a nice treat. Maybe a little of that French Good luck
