2012 - A New Year

How did that happen? Another year, yikes!

However, this year, as of two days ago, I have been cancer free for ELEVEN years.

What are the goals for this year? I haven't a clue.

What I shall do is finish projects that started last year. Yes, of course. I might even finish them before I start another new project. Hah, those that know me will be rolling on the floor in laughter.

I do know that I will make every effort to learn something new EVERY day.

New Years Day - Welcome to MMX

I am borrowing a page from Rebecca who posts a photo everyday and posting a picture for this day... Casting on for the first of my Ravelry Group 10 shawls in 2010 on this day as well.

and from Rabbie Burns, the great Scottish Poet:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my jo, for auld lang syne, we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet, for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu’d the gowans fine ;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot,
sin auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
and gie's a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS

oh, and by the way: Thanks Donnely for reminding me of this.

I will open the back door to let the old year out, and the front door to let the New Year in, give your first visitor of the new year a twist of salt to season life, a piece of bread to stay hunger, a glass of water to stave thirst, and a coin to fend off poverty. A hug to show human warmth, a handshake to show you hold no grudge, and a genuine smile and candle to light up their darkness.

Let's Collect Old Calendars and Ceremoniously Burn 2008, Such a Year We Should Never Have Again.

The Title of this blog is a quote from my friend and fellow Quilt Maverick, Margaret Ball. It sorta sums up 2008 for so many of the friends that I love and admire.

I am that sorry for the delay in wishing you a great New Year in 2009. I for one, am very glad that 2008 is now behind us. I know it's been a rough year for so many. I am grateful that this year wasn't the absolute worst for me, but with the election and the economy crisis, I am very glad that it's over.

I don't do resolutions, they are more in the way of guidelines, as it were. I want to continue to learn something new everyday. I want to be a nicer person. I want to continue to de-clutter my life.

Take care of yourselves, everyone, I hope and pray that you have a better 2009.
